Wade Spiegel

Wade has stepped up into a foreman’s position recently and has done a good job while working on a difficult site job. He keeps track of all the different changes that constantly are happening and makes sure to get project documentation completed by the Owner at the end of each day. He does a good job lining his crew out and making sure they are working safely at all times. Wade’s been a reliable employee and has really stepped up to the plate, a very deserving employee of the month.

Dakota Rock

Dakota has been a valuable part of the team here at Kerr. He showed some true grit helping do the job of 2 guys for numerous nights at one point to give 1 of many examples. He works hard and has a good attitude and makes a tough job fun. Also is versatile in adapting to changing situations at any given time and can handle that stress well.

Brad Holmgren

Brad has been an exceptional team player and hard worker, with a positive attitude. He could be in the middle of a major project and will pause what he is doing to go help someone else on the other end of the project at any time if they need something that takes priority over what he is working on and does not complain about it one bit.

Zeke Guerrero

Zeke has been an exceptional employee!! He comes to work with the best attitude and leaves at the end of the day knowing he gave it his all. Zeke leads his fellow coworkers to also strive to be the best they can be from leading by example to showing everyone just how to get the job done. Zeke has been a very reliable employee and would be a great choice for employee of the month.

Doug Andermatt

Not only does Doug have the knowledge and skill to complete a wide variety of tasks he makes sure to pass that knowledge and experience on to others. Doug is constantly dealing with up and coming new people and does a great job of handling each person’s skill level and finding what’s best for all. He is a valuable asset to the company and is great to have around the job site.

John Stocks

John is an outstanding team player always prioritizing his time between three different crews at any given time. He always shows up to work early, stays late, and understands the importance of a Loader hand as organizing everything out in front and behind those crews which is a never-ending cycle. He always demonstrates that he really does enjoy his job and helping the people around him and stays busier than three guys put together.
He’s a great asset to the job as he is always fixing things immediately and communicates if he needs help making something better. In his past life, I think he was a well-oiled machine always stocking shelves and sweeping the floors. We are lucky to have him as well as his professional workmanship.

Jesse Vella

Jesse keeps all the paving equipment running by performing routine maintenance and emergency repairs. In addition, he will jump on any piece of equipment, always seeming to be wherever his help is needed. When he’s not on the grade with the crew or making repairs, he’s on the phone with equipment representatives ordering parts or resolving issues with equipment. Jesse sincerely cares about the success of Kerr and is a key member of the paving crew.

Jerry Clark

Jerry has been a world of help on this pipe crew. Every day he’s on his game thinking one step ahead and once he’s thought of that he’s trying to get 10 steps ahead. Jerry is a loyal guy and a hard worker who is always pushing people to reach their potential and work best as a team which is recognized by his crew members and other crews around him. There have even been times where I will get calls at night and it’s Jerry reminding me to ensure materials are ordered for the week ahead. A well-deserved nomination.

Adams Wells

Adam has taken on the part of training a pipe crew these last 6 months. Both Adam and his crew have been learning a lot on the 198th project about laying pipe and the web of utilities they are all constantly digging through. Adam uses his experience with pipe laying and passes that on to his crew members explaining and showing them how to do certain tasks and why they are important in a safe manner. Adam’s guidance is just what this company needs to produce quality workers to install a good product.

Forest Van Dehey

Forest reconciles what truck tickets say, with tickets we received from truckers, and then with the report as the final catch-all. Forest has also done a phenomenal job diligently staying on top of and following the process through to payday, helping out our accounting department and the company by ensuring every ticket is accounted for.

Marquis McKinney

Marquis has grown to be a valuable asset to not only his crew but the company as well. His hard work and willingness to learn and adapt hasn’t gone unnoticed by his supervisors or his peers. The attitude he brings to work is always uplifting and I don’t believe negativity runs in his day to day lifestyle. He has been working very hard learning to lay pipe, shooting grades and various tasks. His leadership qualities are becoming more involved and appreciated. He is one person you can count on to show up and do his job. With all of these great and valuable traits, he has a bright future in this industry.

Daley McKay

Daley started with us during Summer 2019 as an intern, worked part-time during his last term at OSU and came on board full time in December 2019. Daley picks up all aspects of work fast and steps up to the plate. He has had various tasks thrown at him – from documentation control on Docexpress to picking up parts, to figuring out permits, to making traffic control plans and he has got them right and got them completed in a timely fashion. His desire and commitment to doing a task right and learn everything that comes his way shows very clearly, and he is a great asset to our team on the east side.

Stephan Roso

Stephen continues to strive to be not just great at any one thing. Stephen wants to be great in all aspects of our scope of work, even as a fairly new employee he shares his knowledge with others. And teaches without asking, second nature to make sure his fellow employee is up to pace with their projects.

Brandon Gonzales

Every time you see Brandon he is running. Running fast! I told him I appreciate the attitude and hustle, but to just walk fast for safety reasons…. however, he cannot help himself, so he starts out running then remembers and kind of goes into this funny looking speed walk. In addition to his hustle, Brandon is a quick study. He has learned GPS, is doing grade checking, gets to work early, has a phenomenal attitude, and is one of those people who makes coming to work fun.

Ron Griffiths

Ron has always been someone to teach his crew the right way to do things even in the toughest conditions. He has built a crew around him that was put together about 3 years ago and they go to work together every day tackling various challenges. Ron has helped guide one such employee to become a sufficient excavator operator while making the other a decent dozer/blade hand. On any given day he’s there to help and explain GPS to the crew as well and spread the knowledge.

Milena Rodgers

Milena has worked her rear off, to get payroll done in 2 days for Thanksgiving she came in Sunday night worked 22 hours straight went home for a few and came back on Tuesday and finished. It isn’t unusual for her to start at 3am to get payroll done she did that almost all summer. She regularly goes above and beyond to make sure the job gets done.

Jason Thomas

Jason has been a huge help in training our new lowboy drivers. He not only trains he makes it a point to teach guys the right way to do it. He is regularly tasked with a multitude of machines, loads and trailers to transport safely. Jason comes to work each day with a smile on his face and a can-do attitude. Whether it’s coming in early, staying late, or making the long haul you can count on Jason to get it done both safely and professionally.

Cy Young

Cy is willing to take on any job whether that means staying late or working through the weekend. There is no job too big or too small for Cy, from engine overhauls to minor repairs he takes much pride in the work he does that leaves the shop.

Christine has done a great job training for a second hire we had in the AP Department, Julie Anderson. Chris always has a pleasant demeanor about her, she is thorough in her training and has been a great addition to the Kerr Team.

Luke Goessens

Luke is a top-notch and an outstanding employee and has an initiative above and beyond a lot of other longer-tenured employees.  He has that go-getter attitude regardless of the weather, what task is at hand or any obstacle that he is faced with.

Alfonso Granados

Alfonso has the patience to teach new and old employees the correct way to check grades without cutting corners. He takes great pride in hitting grades with the survey and is not afraid to tell his co-workers if something is not right. His motto is, if it is not right, it’s not right.

Michael Soliz

Michael Soliz came to Kerr through the TERO program. He has developed into a key part of what we have going on in the many projects in the I-205 corridor. He always has a happy attitude and is fun to joke around with. He has been taking care of traffic control issues both days and nights. He is doing well learning to use the GPS rover and is great at finishing catch basin with grout. He has shown interest in all aspects of our work and is a great team player when it comes to getting the job done. Michael is very dedicated to his Indian heritage and makes time to participate in events and ceremonies. He has grown in the last year to become a great asset. Thank you for considering Michael.

Matt Waite

Matt has a great attitude and a hustle in his step each and every day. He shows up early, stays late, whatever it takes to get the job done, you can count on Matt. I would like to recognize Tommy for his hard work. The last 2 years I have trained and watch Tommy grow. He is consistently the first one to work, the last one to leave, and willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done. He truly takes an interest in the work and treats it like his own. From organizing the truck, training new guys, or being the first to dive into a 24” sewer bypass he can do it all! Tommy exemplifies Kerr’s core values each and every day with a smile on his face. Matt Eaton

Matt has done a great job running the asphalt plant and has really stepped up. He always steps up so this isn’t a surprise. Long overdue accolades for a very consistent, talented, and dedicated employee. A true example of Best in Class!

Brad Holmgren

I would like to nominate Brad Holmgren. He has been a part of the Roseburg crew since the start and filled many different rolls as we worked to get the job off the ground. Not only is Brad versatile he shows up to work each day with a smile on his face and will attack any task you throw at him with a smile on his face. From operating, fabricating, mechanic, etc. Brad knows it all and brings a “can do” attitude with him each day. Brad is a great example of a best in class employee.

Juan Garcia

Juan’s attitude, knowledge and work ethic have played a huge part in successfully completing jobs throughout Hillsboro, Salem and now Roseburg. Juan has taken on a variety of rolls from, foreman, pipe layer, traffic control supervisor, erosion control and anything in between. Juan takes on all of these rolls with great attitude and attention to detail. This work ethic is passed on to his crew each day and pushes us all to be better than we were the day before.

Oscar Trevino

Oscar has been with Kerr Contractors for over a year now and has performed in multiple capacities. Regardless of whether Oscar is operating, laboring, working within the pipe or dirt crew, Oscar has always performed in a safe, efficient and hardworking manner. Regardless of the task you assign him, Oscar always has a ‘can do’ – ‘get it done’ approach, along with a great attitude and enthusiasm working at Kerr Contractors.

Adam Wells

I would like to recommend Adam Wells. When I got hurt on September 19th, he had to take over the pipe crew for me and help train two fairly new guys on how to lay pipe and be a top hand. He took over this role and stepped up to be a leader to get the jobs done for the last 3 months. Adam is committed to achieving the Kerr safety protocol every day. Adam has been a great employee for me and Kerr Contractors, as well a great friend.

Mike Brayton

He has a varied skill set that makes him an asset no matter what we’re doing – paving, dirt or traffic control. He’s been a part of the I-205 crew for the past couple months and we’ll be sorry to lose him to the paving crew when the time comes. Mike has a great attitude, shows up with a lot of enthusiasm and goes above and beyond to get his tasks completed and is an excellent team player. It’s guys like Mike that make Kerr a great place to work.

Ryan Shaw

Always willing to sit down and explain a means/method to a task when asked. Ryan has a wealth of knowledge that he constantly uses to help the guys in the field complete their work no matter has different it may be from Kerr’s normal line of work. Ryan is willing to help out anyone from our laborers to our PM’s to come up with the best possible approach to a problem and will take the time to convey his thought process to each person.

Wade Trotter

Wade originally worked for the milling department but for the last year and a half he has been working with the grading crews while still assisting the milling crew when they can’t cover a job. He quickly figures out any piece of equipment that we need him to run. I always get positive feedback when I discuss his work with the foreman and superintendents. He is a consistent employee and pleasure to work with. I would like to have 10 more employees like Wade.

Melissa Eekhoff

Melissa came to Kerr Contractors and was immediately tasked with being Traffic Control Supervisor on one of the largest and most high profile traffic control projects in the state of Oregon (I-205 Freeway in the middle of Portland). Melissa has impressed both Kerr and ODOT with the work she performs. ODOT has nothing but good things to say about the way Melissa communicates and responds to their concerns. One of the best qualities she exhibits is taking the time to show new crew members the correct, and safe, way of performing a task. These tasks are typically being performed next to traffic in the middle of a busy freeway and we are grateful to have Melissa there to do it right.

Jeremiah O'Connor

He has been with Kerr for nearly five years. He took a short leave of absence this last year but now that he is back, you can really tell what he contributes. He has stepped in and been more of a leader with the other crew members as they have been working on the Reed’s Greenway Park, basically running a small group that is installing buildings, bridges and walls. His ability to diversify with the type of work and teach the other employees has been a great benefit to the projects.

Pete Kelly

Pete has a wealth of experience and has taught most everyone what to do by teaching them what they don’t know and/or guiding them in the right direction. He is also solves issues that come up during the day and is able to accommodate and work around it or with it. Pete also spends a lot of time to make sure everything is taken care of and everyone gets what they need to get the job done right.

Colin Keys

Colin has helped manage the shift from one IT managed service provider to another. This is no simple process as it affects every person in the company and our related companies. He has helped make the transition as simple and as pain free as possible. He helped review and evaluate the candidates for the new IT managed service provider and based upon his input we have made an excellent decision for Kerr.

Jeremiah O'Conner

Jeremiah has been with Kerr for about 4 years now, he takes his own knowledge and experiences with numerous trades (carpentry, concrete, pipe, etc.) and takes time in his work day to explain and show by example to train others properly and gives them a chance to succeed. Recently, he has been teaching multiple employee both new and seasoned, how to check grade, build forms, pour/finish concrete, fabrication, and most importantly he has been teaching guys how to think outside the box when things don’t go as planned, which is a daily occurrence. We need more of Jeremiah’s leadership and knowledge to be passed onto the upcoming generation of Kerr employees.

Kevin Donahoo

Kevin has been running around on many small jobs with limited crew and continues to exemplify the Kerr Way thru daily perseverance. His attitude and professionalism have attracted many comments from clients recently. He finds a better way daily. He acts like he owns it. He builds relationships thru team play.

Doug Andermatt

This has been a challenging season with inexperienced help. Doug has been working with 5-6 guys with no highway experience and little heavy construction experience at all. He has been a valuable asset to this job helping keeping on schedule and meeting the paving schedule. With the help of George Bergstrom as his only veteran, they have installed the pipe and done most of the grade work on the I-205 project and wanted to acknowledge their hard work. I appreciate and value his knowledge and experience in helping teach the men he is working with. Though we have had our challenges and mistakes, he has helped shorten the learning curve for the men working with him. With the long hours and days this summer and the push to meet the paving schedule he may not have realized that it was noticed, I wanted to let him know that his crew has gone above and beyond what could have been expected. I respect his work ethic and dedication to showing these men how to do quality work.

Jose Padilla

I would like to nominate Jose in the wash bay at the shop. This is a person every day that comes in and fuels all the trucks, waters the yard, and cleans equipment. When I mean clean equipment he pulls down every belly pan and door and inspects and catches a lot of stuff we never see. He catches broken welds and things you wouldn’t see when dirty. Someone like this is so hard to find that is passionate about what he does every day. Remember when you see a piece of equipment that comes out all clean and ready to go that’s Jose.

Jose is steady, quiet and dependable. He acts like he owns it in the way he performs his job. He makes our trucks and gear look great as he is getting it ready to go down the road. Many people may not know him or what he does, but he puts the shine on our brand every day.

Tony Green

Tony has been a loyal employee for over 8 years and currently takes care of traffic control for the paving crew for the I-205 project. Over the summer he took on the position of dump man in addition to setting up traffic control and AC prep. He is an integral part of the team responsible for ensuring the I-205 project meets its interim completion date. Tony has worked multiple weekends to make sure the job was permanently striped on time. He manages a crew with a great attitude and is always thinking ahead.

Rocky Ferguson

Rocky has rolled a lot of asphalt for us in his day but in the last month Rocky has not only paved but came over to help in any way he could at our Mittleton project after full paving shifts. He exemplified dedication and working whatever hours it took to get the job done. He is a skilled operator and hard, tireless worker and I really appreciate his help!

Clinton Bruised Head

Clint came to us through the TERO program. We were told he was one of the two laborers we requested and he started out laboring and doing traffic control. We got to know him and found out that he could operate, but is accustom to John Deere controls. Clint has done every task we have asked of him, and never complained. He has picked up the GPS dozer very quickly and continues to show great improvement. Although he has never done heavy highway work of this size he has quickly become acclimated to it and is working right alongside traffic (safely). Clint never complains about any task or job he’s performing and goes about it with the same happy-go-lucky (GREAT) attitude every day. Clint is very receptive and eager to learning and takes in everything that we are teaching him. Between superintendent, foreman, and the other operators onsite many days people are fighting over who gets to work with him. Clint has great values to keep himself grounded and focused on what is important and that is his family. His daughter is off barrel racing on the rodeo circuit and he is very proud of her. His son is also in the rodeo circuit and we hear stories of their exploits while working. Even Clint, in his little bit of free time, is in the rodeo circuit competing for a spot in Vegas. Clint has been a great employee, a great find, and a model employee. Clint is the type of person that we would all be proud to work with here at KERR. Keep up all the hard work Clinton, it is greatly appreciated.

Corey Templin

Corey Templin – “Corey has always excelled at training others whether job task related or in a safety meeting. He shows real leadership in that area”. Corey will receive a $100 and be eligible for the Trainer of the Year award in December announced at the Christmas party. Congratulations Corey.

Randall Busser

During the last couple of months, Randall took on the task of completing a waterline tie-in and plumbing the interior of the waterline vaults and CARVs. Even though he is not a foreman he took on the leadership of him and a couple other employees and got the job done. He paid attention to all the details in the plans as well as making needed corrections to make the material fit correctly. He has shown us all the core value of “act like you own it” as he didn’t wait for a foreman or superintendent to show up and tell him what to do. Great job Randall.

Also Note that he was the WINNER OF THE EQUIPMENT RODEO at the Reeds Crossing Grand opening Party on 7/10/18. He had a combined time of 1 Minute 12 secs for his skid steer and excavator events!!

Todd Lee

Todd Lee comes to mind right away. He has been here for two years now and has been an awesome guy to work with and does a hell of a job as a field mechanic. He never complains and always wants to do what’s right to try to have it ready for us the next day and that is appreciated very much. He has the 5 core values, and when something breaks down, Todd is always there for us! Thanks again Todd!

Trevor Cramer

Trevor primarily runs the batch plant for CDF at 124th. Trevor came into this knowing nothing about running a batch plant, but now looks like he has been doing it for years. Hard working, capable, and intelligent, Trevor is a guy who is in it to win it.

Tommy Davidson

“Tommy is a hustler and has taken on wrapping 66” pipe joints, 15’ deep, in the mud and cold. He exemplifies the value “act like you own it” in the pride he takes in making sure the wrapping is caught up with the welders. He does a tough job with pride and enthusiasm.”

Jerry Cole

“Jerry is a laborer that has been with us for about 1 year.  He is very dedicated to is job and gives 100% of his effort all of the time.  Although he did not have much experience in our type of work prior to starting he has been a valuable part of the waterline project in Hillsboro and has taken on every task he has been given with a can do attitude and makes sure he get the job done.  All of the crews that he has worked with have been complimentary of his efforts.  He is a good example of the type of hard working person that we want as part of the Team. Keep up the hard work Jerry.”

Jason Smith

“Jason has shown a lot of initiative over the last year at the US26, 231^st Ave, and Bald Peak Rd projects.  He always shows up early and often has a JHA filled out for the work activity that will be accomplished that day prior to anyone else.  Jason is very Safety oriented and is always looking at how to perform a task safely, even if it takes a little extra time (Core Value-Always Do The Right Thing).  Something else that stands out about Jason is that he is willing to teach the less experienced guys how to safely perform work and help develop their skills for the future.”

Priscilla Quintero

“Priscilla has been a big help in getting our DOT compliance in order from the administration side. No one in our company had much knowledge on this so she had to go out and learn on her own what we needed to do to be in compliance, which is very challenging. She has a passion for her job and asks a lot of questions and doesn’t hesitate to help others out. She certainly reflects all of Kerr’s core values. Keep up the good work.”

Dylan Baker

“Dylan Baker deserves to be recognized for his talent that is so hard to find these days. At just 28 years old Dylan brings to the table what Kerr contractors needs to be successful in today’s market for keeping up on revolving equipment changes. He is so talented in hands-on wrenching but even more impressive on the diagnosis side which is our future. As we throw more and more codes and sensor and whatever issues that comes the demand gets higher and higher and he steps up to the plate every time willing to challenge himself and others. He is what our core values stand for and shows that every day when he fixes our equipment to put us ahead of others.”

Jorge Gutierrez

“Jorge is a reliable employee when it comes to just about everything. He works day/night, always on time and willing to go the extra mile. He helps with pipe work, grade checks, and has shown an ability to perform complex traffic control (All with a hustle in his step). Jorge not only shows up to work every day on time and ready to go, he does it with a good attitude. One of the things that sets Jorge apart from others is that he is always willing to help the new apprentices, guiding them and looking out for everyone on the team.”

Josue Flores

“He is a grade checker that has been with Kerr many years who is more valuable to this company than checking grade. He is very sharp and confident on the GPS equipment and communicates very well with others while grade checking to make the operations as efficient as possible. But what makes him standout, is he is very versatile on running other equipment and stepping up when needed whether it be laboring all day or being counted on to run a small dirt crew. He also has a very good understanding of reading plans and you can count on him to build something correctly. Also, he has recently brought to our company another strong employee who looks to have a bright future at Kerr Contractors. “

David Messinger

“Dave has been working hard for Kerr for many years. Everybody knows him, so I don’t think a write up is necessary, but here you go anyways: Dave has been working hard for Kerr for many years. His supervisors do not let him go because he is so valuable to whatever team he is on. He teaches other people, is a flat out animal on a dozer, and always comes to work ready to go with a positive attitude.”

Randy Johnson

“Randy has been a valuable asset to our projects and to Kerr. He is always willing and able, and is a jack of all trades being a laborer, an operator and can finish concrete with the best of them. John Adkins

“John Adkins: John has been with us for I think a couple years now and has grown exceptionally with his skills. He started as a hard working green laborer which he has excelled at. Now he has started to become a reliable operator and continue to improve each week with his skills and experience. On top of this John has one of the best work ethics and attitude’s on the crew. He is always ready to work and perform whatever task is needed that day. I have never heard John complain about what he has to do for the day. Mark Perry

“Mark was an integral part of the daily operations at Kerr. As he was the primary Lube truck driver for 12 years, many depended on him daily to provide fuel and services for their projects. With an upbeat and positive attitude, he always accomplished his task for the crews whether it was during normal operating hours or on nights, weekends, or even snow events. It was truly a pleasure working with Pokey and he will be greatly missed. His commitment to his job was one for all to take note of and a true symbol of the “Kerr Core Values” that we all want to strive to up hold.”

Mario Valente

“I nominate Jose Padilla. He is one of the best wash guy out there. He takes pride in his work when he is done washing anything you can eat off it. He fuels all the trucks every day and keeps up with the paperwork. Always ready to work and help out with anything.”

Austin Rasch

“I nominate laborer/pipe layer, Austin Rasch. Austin came to Kerr a year ago and in a short period of time has become a guy anyone would want on their crew. He was taught how to lay pipe 4 months ago and within 2 weeks was laying pipe without much supervision at accurate grades. He picks up information as if he has been doing it for years. At South Cooper, we believe that because of his great attitude, ambition and motivation to learn as well as high confidence in himself, he has succeeded where many others in this new generation of young craftsmen have failed. A successful pipe layer has to be the most vocal guy on the crew and keeping the digger and top hand moving. Austin does just that. When the crew sees him busting ass, they work that much harder. On top of being an excellent pipe layer, he is our best grade hand on the ground. He understands plans quickly, knows how to read survey stakes, and can be counted on to lead other laborers on making sure something is graded efficiently and most of all, correct the first time without constant supervision. This is a big challenge at South Cooper with many miscellaneous structures to grade and Austin has excelled at doing it right. Austin is a young man with a bright future at Kerr that exemplifies our core values and what we want from young men joining the construction work force to push this company further in the future”

Lawrence Munyon

“I would like to nominate Lawrence Munyon. On October 10th, while working on a City of Eugene Street project operating one of Kerr’s mixers pre tilling a city street at 16’ depth to prepare the grade for mixing cement – Larry set the machine in where he was directed to, and set in on an unmarked 4” Gas line at a 12” depth. Not knowing what he had hit in the ground Larry picked the machine out of the ground to check the Machine and the area where he had hit something. Looking behind him he could see the milled grindings being blown into the air and realized it was a gas line that was hit. Larry secured the machine away from the gas line, and while others on the job site left the area, Larry ran from door to door to alert the residents to evacuate long before first responders arrived.”

Lance Traaen

“Lance is an operator at South Cooper who mainly digs mainline pipe. However, for the last month and beyond he has been doing critical path structure excavation, curb grading, and finesse hoe work to fine tune slopes. He has done an exceptional job at working around the other trades and not getting frustrated with the constant design changes associated with the structure excavations. The other Hoffman subs have told him as well as us how appreciative they are of the excavations he does because he digs them to grade, with access, and efficiently. He always has an excellent attitude when working in the very tight proximities of the other subs and is a great asset to the South Cooper as well as Kerr Team.”

Jimmy Joe Bustos

“I nominate Jimmy Joe Bustos. Jimmy Joe exemplifies the core value “great results happen through teams”. At 124th our primary blade hand quite three days before we had paving scheduled, and Jimmy Joe stepped in and finished subgrade and baserock prior to the paving date for a significant stretch of the project. There were issues with rock suppliers, the difficulty in finishing 1 1/2 “ baserock, and GPS, but Jimmy Joe did what it took to meet the paving schedule. Jimmy Joe’s experience, skill and knowledge is an asset to our project and he shares it in a very team oriented approach. As much as his abilities, his leadership is appreciated and I thank Jimmy Joe for his commitment to the success of Kerr Contractors.”

Harlee Wadman

“Harlee has been with Kerr Contractors since 2012 and has performed in multiple capacities. Regardless of whether Harlee is Operating, Laboring, working within the milling division or heavy civil side, Harlee has always performed in a safe, efficient and hard working manner. Harlee not only is an excellent mill operator, he has become one of our go to spreading and treating personnel – in addition, Harlee has always had a ‘can do’ – ‘get it done’ approach regardless of the task he has been asked to perform, and also performs with a great attitude and enthusiasm working at Kerr Contractors.”

“I nominate Matt Waite. I was out on the sunrise project a couple of weeks ago with Kevin at 5:00 am getting trucking going for grinding and I saw this guy that had a great attitude and a hustle in his step and I loved it! It felt good to see a Team Kerr employee with that drive and wanting to work and be ahead of the game and ready for the pavers. I didn’t know him and he had been here for almost 2 years. I believe he has the potential to be a good leader also. We need more guys like this.”

Matt Haugen

“I nominate Matt Haugen. Matt has been with Kerr Contractors since 2003. He has always performed his work duties with a “best in Class attitude”, and has taken on each and every task asked of him in professional manner. That has served Kerr Contractors well – many contractors in the paving industry ask specifically for Matt and his crew to be on their job sites. In addition to doing “best in Class” work on each and every project he and his crew performs on, Matt has taken it upon himself, and used his own personal time to learn as much about the machine’s in Kerr’s milling fleet as he possibly can. He has even received calls from Wirtgen Dealerships inquiring about specific machine problems he has solved in the past. He has led the maintenance program for the last three years – and the milling machines have never been in better shape prior to starting a season”

Wes Ulrey

“I nominate Wes Ulrey. He has been working on offsite City of Beaverton Utitities at South Cooper in the Washington County ROW where his work has been under a microscope as far as safety, quality, public safety, and schedule by many agencies outside of Kerr. He is watched like a hawk by Hoffman and their superintendents, the owner’s rep, the designer’s rep, the City of Beaverton, and Washington County. He has done an exceptional job managing what these people say, to keep his work moving forward productively. He could let all these agencies get to him, but instead he listens to them and does what ever he can to not let it bring down morale or halt his daily production goals.”

“Pete Kelly for his work at Ridgewood. Pete came back to Ridgewood in September and has taken the bull by the horns the last couple months there. He has done an excellent job keeping his guys, safe, building quality work, as well as successfully building a strong relationship with the Client, Stellar J. His relationship with them has awarded us change order work as well as pushed them to win battles for us with Tualatin Valley Water District for additional money. Furthermore, he developed a strong relationship with the neighbors, Clean Water Services, City of Beaverton, and Tualatin Valley Water that allowed us to work with high productivity and no complaints through the rain on “their” streets. He is in the midst of laying 3 triple barrel 24″ lines 28′ deep directly through Stellar J’s work site. I can strongly say that if he hadn’t developed such a great relationship with the Superintendent and foreman onsite, we would not have the access and room we have now to perform this work. However, he would say it’s still not enough”

Shannon Cochrane

“Shannon Cochrane or as some or must of you know him as Porky is my choice for going above the call. It was the heat of the time for us to rock and roll and Porky was able to keep his guys focused on task at hand without to many issues. Remember this guys never hears positive info its “hey porky I got this broken can you fix it?”

“Corey has been the superintendent on the new Hoffman Construction project for the past several months. Hoffman does things a little differently than Kerr Contractors is used to regarding safety, pre-task planning, and scheduling. Corey has been able to adapt to these and other changes quickly and effectively. Corey is a big part of this successful project. By leading by example Corey has been able to keep Kerr crews headed in the right direction. Keep up the great work.”

“Recently he was put in charge of a clearing project in Salem which was difficult to work in due to a creek in the middle of the work zone as well as the politics between ODOT and the City of Salem. Corbin and Joe did a good job of managing ODOT and the city to keep the project moving forward in good weather and complete the work timely. As well, Corbin and the guys continued to try new ways to improve operations and production to complete under budget. In addition Corbin has had to keep operations in motion to clean up a couple projects and prep for the work at Biggs. He is always willing to make time for other projects that call with concrete structure needs. He also informs and shows the guys often how they should perform as employees of Kerr”

Specifically, he has stayed on top of Colwood , Fed Ex, and UPS so that they can continue to generate revenue in the wet time when we need it most.
