Effluent Repair
This was a best-value project. Work included replacing an existing wastewater effluent at Nye Beach. Kerr Contractors was performing a similar repair project for the City of Newport. The Owner, familiar with the project, initiated negotiations with Kerr Contractors regarding performing this effluent repair. The relationship with the Owner and the engineer allowed Kerr Contractors to collaborate directly with the Owner’s engineer to design and install a new effluent line. Work included replacing a welded steel line with a new line on a public beach during the peak tourist season. The Owner’s previous experience with Kerr Contractors performing similar work was the deciding factor in the evaluation process for this turn-key project. Construction required significant coordination with Owner, City of Newport, State Lands and local businesses to develop a workable schedule for construction. Kerr Contractors worked all hours during favorable tides to keep the papermill in Toledo online.
